Back in our MR.HATE days, Stephen and me became the best of friends. After the band broke up, though at first our musical directions were quite different, we kept sharing the love for the same style of classic, melodic Hard Rock. I promised Stephen, if he ever wanted to do an album of that particular sort of music again, I'll surely help him, to make this possible. Well, in early 2003 I kept my promise. "Running Out Of Lies" of Stephen's very own project MIDNITE CLUB became a brillant and fine piece of music of great rhythm-Rockers and well-balanced ballads. The band's name came from a track of the same title I wrote together with Robby Boebel for the first EVIDENCE ONE album. Unfortunately, it didn't make it to the album, but we took it for "Running Out Of Lies". The version on the MIDNITE CLUB album even features Robby playing rhythm guitars. With "Ticket To Silence" there's another track, I co-wrote with Robby. The line up of MIDNITE CLUB also features drummer Bernd Herrmann of German platinum-sellers SÖHNE MANNHEIMS, a very famous Hip Hop/Pop act.
Like with EVIDENCE ONE, the MIDNITE CLUB gave me an opportunity to try out and show different styles of my singing, especially when it comes to ballads. Emotional, far away from the Metal-side I need to produce in DOMAIN.
Funny note aside: British Escape records signed the band after listening to three demo tracks on the telephone…!
In 2009 US Label Metal Mayhem re-released "Running Out Of Lies" with three demo bonus tracks.
