This is my 10th official release and, by far, the most ambitious one. It took me about one year to completely work out the story and lyrics, two years, to convince Axel to do it, one year of recording and another to find a label, which can handle a concept album like this!
When it comes to writing lyrics, I've never been a storyteller. I mainly write about, what's shaking in my head and my cyko mind, with "Last Days Of Utopia", I tried to find a completely new way: A full conceptual story. With this record Axel finally had the chance to fullfill a dream of composing symphonic and orchestral arrangements, which perfectly fit into my concept. Since I was in DOMAIN, we've never worked on an album that long! A lot of discussions, a lot of different views, but in the end, for me personally, the most satisfying DOMAIN record, I did work on ever (also the first one, we shot a real video clip for!).

Right now, we can't foresee, how the fans would react on yet another change of pace (for the classic fans, we did some typical DOMAINesque bonus cuts: a re-recording of "Caught In The Flame" and the great "Head Above The Water", which turned to be one of our favourites), but we did exactly the record, we wanted to. Maybe we head back to Classic Rock with the next one, maybe we do one more of that style, I don't know, but, as risky as might be, this is a our personal, musical masterpiece.
