"Stardawn" was utterly exhausting for everyone in the band. I truely believe, it's a masterpiece, simply the best DOMAIN album ever. Not only because of "Shadowhall", a 25-minute long opus based on a vampire story, I once had in mind.

After the "Melodic Metal Alliance European Tour 2005" together with MOB RULES and LUNATICA the difference between what the band represented live and what the albums sounded like (especially on the in our terms successful "Last Days Of Utopia" CD) was obvious. We were a groovin', hard rocking, sex-driven Hard Rock band on stage, but some epic Power Metal combo on our albums. After our usual discussions we decided to try to do best of both worlds: Two albums in one, if you want. We went in our rehearsal room and wrote a couple brillant songs the way, bands normally do (for example the fantastic title track "Stardawn", which is one of my alltime favourite DOMAIN tracks ever), and on the other hand with the "Shadowhall" piece gave Axel the chance to hook on his desired path of huge orchestration and epic structures.
To make a long story short: I love this record! It simply represents everything, DOMAIN - as I see or saw it - stands for. With the surprising CHRIS DE BURGH cover "Don't Pay The Ferryman" I won yet another battle within the band or especially against Axel, convincing him that this track would perfectly work DOMAIN-style...

Also featuring a couple interesting guests and friends like Michael Voss (CASANOVA), Ferdy Doernberg (AXEL RUDI PELL/ULI JON ROTH), Tarek Maghary (MAJESTY), Conny Andresczka (CIRCLE OF PAIN) and Val Jr. (IRON MASK).

"Stardawn" marks the end of an era.
